The Langkawi Trip

Well well, how should I put it? I enjoyed myself! It was great! Relaxing and fun! Feels fantastic to be in the company of the Great Flips for 4 days! I only wished we had been healthier to better enjoy it, oh well!

Langkawi is a quiet place. It's still pretty laid back there with buffaloes running around the place. I like how we go there from Singapore. You fly there. Straight. Some people might say "eer so?" So you imbecile, I don't have to take a long squeezy, queasy coach ride like you did to go some other weird overly-infested place like Genting. SilkAir flies there, though the number and frequency of flights might test your logistic coordination a little.

Where we stayed was a pretty comfy spot I guess deserves mentioning. It's Casa Del Mar, Not CAFE Del Mar, you sukus. A small resort set in Pantai Cenang, Langkawi. The service was generally warm and good. It's sometimes the waiters that might irritate you a little. And sometimes when you order room service food, it might not always be fantastic, especially if you order at weird times like maybe 4pm. Otherwise, the food there is pretty good. But be warned, its not cheap. Unless of course your wallet is fattened in greens or pounds...

It's a pity we did not get to do much there because of the weather that was at times too bloody hot or the seas too choppy. But the beach is a dream. Especially when you get to stroll on it at 7am with your beloved lumbering right next to you. There are not many people, the clouds are peaceful and beautifully shaped, the sea is majestic, and the skies are endless. The horizon embraces you completely.

In Langkawi, there is nothing very much around also. Well, there are actually quite alot of roadside stalls and "restaurants" i suppose, but they don't quite look like they will be easy on your stomach, or in extreme cases, your asses. There is a town there though! With malls and fastfood but we didn't go, so we unfortunately cannot shed some light on that.

I watched a corny jap show today that was talking about holidays too. One guy who ran this small-time beach hostel said to his grand-daughter, "we live here, and that's why sometimes we forget that our guests come here because they are going back". Yes, rather cheesy I know. But it does make sense... I suppose it's important to treasue the short beautiful memories or a vacation and return back to our routined lives with a fresh or different perspective and motivation. We're not TVs... can't be programmed and expected to run forever on a routine with no changes. If we do that, we chip little bits off our humanity I feel.

So, as I beam happily, and prepares for bed, I look forward to the next trip we take together happy Flippy! Someday, we shall pack our bags and run off into the distance, where there is just you and me giggling, joking, snoring and running around endlessly, frivilously, happily, lovingly. A promise.
